Alice
My intention was to highlight, with harmony, the extraordinary story of the talented pianist Alice Herz-Sommer. It was about combining classical elements with new media within the context of Alice’s biography.

The focus is on her (Alice’s) attempt to provide, through music, what everyone in Theresienstadt, surrounded by the confinement and cruelty of war, so desperately needed – hope and even a fleeting moment of relief.
Through classical music, interacting with colors and forms, I wanted to revive memories of happier times: of home, a mother’s lullaby, or a lover’s night. All those precious things that war takes away from people. I believe Alice would have resonated with the “Visual Music” concept. My work required a deep sensitivity to express the subtle messages that echo within us all, each in its own intensity. With digital media, I crafted animations, yet the essence and inspiration came from photographs of rooms, “everyday” scenes, and the quiet beauty of nature.
